The Pune Book Festival kicked off today with a bang as Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis graced the event with his presence. In his inaugural speech, Fadnavis stressed the importance of reading in today’s digital world, stating that as long as creativity exists, so will the reading culture.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including MLA Chandrakant Patil and MP Dr. Medha Kulkarni. A major highlight was the presentation of a Guinness World Record certificate to Parampujya Jain Acharya Vijayratna Surishwar Maharaj for having the highest number of books authored by a single individual.

Fadnavis praised Pune as the perfect city for a book festival, noting the city’s passion for knowledge and books. He also suggested that similar festivals be held in other major cities in Maharashtra to spread the intellectual feast.

Festival Coordinator Rajesh Pande revealed that this year’s event is three times larger than last year, featuring a book fair, film festival, and literature festival for children. The festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of literature and knowledge.

So, if you’re in Pune, don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of books and creativity! And don’t forget to check out the food festival too – after all, a well-fed mind is a creative mind!
