Ranjit Gadgil from Parisar expressed disappointment at the haphazard plantation on Ganeshkhind road, which is blocking pedestrian access. Ameet Singh, another petitioner, highlighted the lack of geo-tagging for the 5000 trees to be planted as compensation. Hema Chari, the third petitioner, emphasized the Chief Justice’s concern over Pune’s diminishing green cover.
The PMC recently granted provisional permission to cut 896 trees and transplant 968 trees, necessitating compensatory plantation of 32,600 trees. However, the petitioners claim that compensatory plantation is not happening as expected.
