Hey there, Pune residents! Big news coming your way – the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has rolled out a new scheme called the Permanently Disconnected (PD) Amnesty scheme. This scheme is a lifesaver for customers whose electricity supply was cut off permanently due to unpaid bills.

So, what’s the deal with this scheme? Well, if you owe some money to MSEDCL and your power got disconnected, you can now get it back by paying just one or two weeks’ worth of the original outstanding amount. It’s like a fresh start!

And guess what? In just two weeks since the scheme was launched, a whopping 23,779 consumers from the Pune Regional Division have already signed up for it. That’s a lot of people looking to get their power back on!

Now, let’s talk numbers. Among those who signed up, about 20,546 customers need to pay a total of Rs. 30.20 crores in outstanding dues. That’s a hefty sum, but with this scheme, they can get some relief and start fresh.

Under the PD Amnesty Scheme, all types of consumers, except agricultural and public water supply schemes, are eligible to participate. And if you pay up your original dues, you’ll get a 100% waiver on interest and late fees – talk about a good deal!

But wait, there’s more. If you’re a small-pressure consumer and pay in one go, you’ll get a 10% discount. High-pressure consumers, on the other hand, will get a 5% discount. Not bad, right? And if you can’t pay it all at once, you can pay 30% upfront and the rest in six interest-free instalments.

Oh, and one more thing – this scheme is only valid until 31st December 2024. So, if you want to take advantage of it, you better act fast!

Already, 20,546 consumers in the Pune region have paid a total of Rs. 30.20 crores in original dues. That’s a lot of people getting their power back on!

And here’s a fun fact – did you know that according to a Supreme Court ruling, electricity bill arrears are tied to the property, not the owner? So, even if you sell your property, the new owner is responsible for settling any outstanding dues. It’s good to know, right?

So, if you’re one of those consumers with permanently disconnected power, don’t miss out on this opportunity. Head over to the MSEDCL website or mobile app to sign up for the PD Amnesty Scheme. And if you need any help, just contact your nearest MSEDCL office.

Let’s get those lights back on, Pune!
