According to Sujit Patil, DySP of the State Excise Department, Pune Division, if minors are found being served alcohol, their licenses will be cancelled. This action comes after a recent hit-and-run case that brought attention to the issue of underage drinking in the city.
After citizens and the media raised concerns about malpractices in the department, officials conducted thorough inspections of all pubs and hotels in the area. As a result, 142 establishments were penalized for breaking the law.
