Pune’s Kasba Peth MLA Hemant Rasane is making waves with his recent demands for the State Government to take action on two important issues in the city.

First up, Rasane is calling for the rehabilitation of the Khadak Police Colony, which is in dire need of attention. The colony, which dates back 125 years to the British era, is currently in a sorry state with cracked walls, broken windows, and a poor drainage system. Police personnel are living in cramped 250-sq ft accommodations, trying to serve the community 24/7. Rasane is adamant that the 139 units need to be rehabilitated as soon as possible to improve living conditions for those serving the city.

In addition to the Police Colony, Rasane is also pushing for the redevelopment of the Tehsildar office in Pune. Despite approval being granted back in 2004, the project has been dragging on for 20 years under the previous Congress rule. The office, which houses the Pune City Tehsildar office, the Umaji Naik Memorial, and Khadak Police Station, is lacking basic amenities for citizens. There are no sitting arrangements, chairs, or drinking water facilities for those visiting the office. The road leading to the premises is also narrow and has been encroached upon, causing further issues. Rasane is urging the State Government to speed up the redevelopment process to improve the overall efficiency and accessibility of the office for the public.

With Rasane’s vocal demands, it seems like positive changes could be on the horizon for these two crucial facilities in Pune. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
