Hey there, folks! It’s been a tragic start to the week in Pune, with a devastating accident near Kesnand Phata in Wagholi claiming three lives and leaving six others seriously injured. The incident involved a speeding dumper that ran over people sleeping on the footpath, resulting in the deaths of two young children and their uncle.
The driver of the dumper, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle and crashed onto the footpath. Thankfully, Pune police have already taken him into custody and are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
The injured victims were taken to Sassoon General Hospital, where they are receiving treatment for their injuries. Among them, 19-year-old Janaki Pawar is in critical condition, with severe internal injuries that have caused breathing difficulties. Despite undergoing surgery to address her injuries, she remains on a ventilator in the Trauma Department.
Another victim, 18-year-old Renisha Pawar, suffered a spinal injury but is now in stable condition. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Nagesh Pawar is expected to be discharged in the next couple of days.
Three other victims are currently being treated for leg injuries and fractures in the Orthopaedic Department. Their conditions are reported to be stable at this time.
In response to the tragedy, the Chief Minister’s Office has reached out to Sassoon Superintendent Dr. Eknath Pawar to inquire about the victims’ treatment and recovery. The Chief Minister has pledged financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to cover any additional medical expenses that may arise.
Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time. Stay safe out there, Pune.
