Well, it seems like the customs officials in Mumbai and Pune have been quite busy lately. In two separate incidents, they intercepted six passengers arriving from Bangkok and seized a whopping 30kg of hydroponic marijuana valued at a cool ₹30 crore. That’s a pretty hefty haul!
It looks like this isn’t an isolated incident either. According to officials, Mumbai customs have confiscated a total of 115.5kg of hydroponic marijuana in the past three months, leading to the arrest of over 40 individuals. It seems like there’s been a rise in the smuggling of this particular contraband, which is legally available in Thailand.
In Pune, customs officials arrested Misrad Vadakaeveetil Abdul Majeed, who was caught with 4kg of hydroponic weed cleverly hidden in everyday food items like cornflakes, coffee, and Thai tea boxes. The contraband has been valued at approximately ₹4.2 crore. Talk about getting creative with your smuggling techniques!
And let’s not forget about the five passengers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai who were caught with 26kg of hydroponic marijuana worth ₹26.5 crore. The illegal substance was hidden in all sorts of everyday items like chips, washing powder, diapers, and instant noodles. It looks like smugglers are really pulling out all the stops to evade detection.
It’s clear that customs officials have their work cut out for them as smugglers continue to come up with innovative ways to transport contraband. These recent cases just go to show the lengths to which these individuals will go to make a quick buck. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
