Hey there, Pune! It looks like the traffic department has been cracking down on government employees who aren’t wearing their helmets while riding their two-wheelers. In the past two months alone, there have been a whopping 169 cases of these violations at major government offices in the city.

The Pune collectorate, the PMC, the zilla parishad, and the RTO are just a few of the places where employees have been caught flouting the helmet rule. And it’s not just a one-time thing – the numbers keep going up, with 48 new cases added just in December.

Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar isn’t messing around either. He’s issued directives to all government departments, warning them that repeat offenders will face penalties. It’s a serious matter, especially with the rising number of two-wheeler accidents in Pune.

The RTO is on it too, ramping up surveillance at government premises to catch those who think they can get away without wearing a helmet. They’re not playing around – they’re ready to step up their game in the new year.

This whole crackdown is part of a larger effort to improve road safety in Pune, led by retired Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre. He’s not happy with the low compliance rate among government employees and has warned that violators could face some serious consequences, like negative remarks in their service records.

So, if you’re a government employee in Pune, make sure you’re wearing your helmet when you’re out on the road. Your department head is watching, and they’ll be taking action if you’re caught breaking the rules. Stay safe out there, Pune!
