Hey Pune folks, listen up! The Pune Traffic Police are gearing up to tackle the heavy traffic congestion in the Camp and Deccan Gymkhana areas on New Year’s Eve. Starting from 5 pm until midnight on the 31st of December, there will be temporary traffic changes in place to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles as we bid adieu to 2024 and usher in the New Year.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Amol Zende, has announced that key routes like Mahatma Gandhi Road, Ferguson College Road, and Jangali Maharaj Road will experience diversions and alternative routes will be marked for commuters. So, if you’re planning to be out and about in these areas, make sure to plan your route accordingly.

In the Camp area, traffic heading from Y Junction towards Mahatma Gandhi Road will be diverted via Qureshi Mosque and Sujata Mastani Chowk. The route from ISKCON Temple towards Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road and Aurora Towers will be blocked, so be prepared for that. And if you’re heading from Volga Chowk to Mohammad Rafi Chowk, you’ll need to take a detour via East Street.

Over on Ferguson Road and Jangali Maharaj Road, traffic from Kothrud and Karve Road will be redirected via Law College Road, Prabhat Road, and Alka Talkies. And if you’re on Jangali Maharaj Road, be prepared for a diversion at Jhansichi Rani Chowk towards Gokhale Smarak Chowk.

Certain sections of Mahatma Gandhi Road and Ferguson College Road will be closed to vehicles until 5 am on New Year’s Day, so plan your travels accordingly. The Traffic Police will also be cracking down on drunk driving and overspeeding, so make sure to follow traffic rules to avoid penalties and ensure everyone’s safety.

Remember, it’s all about cooperation and planning ahead, so let’s make sure we have a safe and smooth transition into the New Year. Stay safe, Pune!
