As the countdown to the New Year begins, trouble brews in Hinjawadi, Pune as two establishments face legal action for running illegal hookah parlours. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) cracked down on these establishments on December 28 and 29.

The first incident took place at a rooftop lodge in the Wisteria Cooperative Housing Society, where the manager Sudarshan Dayanand Kinikar and operator Tushar Bhumkar were caught offering hookah services. The use of an iron grate and coal for hookah smoking raised concerns about fire hazards and public safety, leading to their booking by the AHTU.

In a separate case, the manager of Akasa Pool Bar & Kitchen, Rakesh Shetty, and waiter Yuvraj Deepak Khadka were also booked for running a hookah parlour on the premises. The use of charcoal-lit jars on wooden tables posed a significant fire risk, prompting action from the AHTU.

Both cases have been reported to the Hinjawadi Police Station for further investigation under the supervision of Assistant Police Inspector Jadhav. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
