In a bid to make traveling on the Pune Metro more convenient for commuters, five new entry and exit gates have been inaugurated at various metro stations starting June 15, 2024. These gates have been strategically placed to improve the flow of passengers, enhance safety, and reduce congestion during peak hours.

At PMC Metro Station, Gates No. 2 & 3 are located riverside, eliminating the need for passengers to cross the road to access the foot overbridge. Similarly, at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan and Deccan Gymkhana Metro Stations, Gates No. 2 & 3 are positioned on the opposite side of JM Road. Bopodi Metro Station features Entry/Exit Gate No. 4, while Kalyani Nagar Metro Station has Gate No. 3 for passenger convenience.

These new entry and exit points aim to make it easier for commuters to access foot overbridges without having to navigate busy roads, ultimately improving safety and convenience. By distributing passenger flow more evenly, congestion at existing gates will be reduced, particularly during peak travel times.

The introduction of these new gates not only enhances accessibility to nearby landmarks and business districts but also improves connectivity, making metro travel a more attractive option for commuters. By minimizing the distance passengers need to travel within stations, Pune Metro hopes to enhance convenience and streamline entry and exit procedures.

Shravan Hardikar, the Managing Director of Maha Metro, emphasized the importance of these new gates in Pune Metro’s commitment to providing top-notch services that prioritize passenger comfort and efficiency. Commuters are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these new entry and exit points to optimize their metro experience and help promote the use of Pune Metro as a preferred mode of transportation.
