Hey there, Pune peeps! Big news coming your way – the State Government has just announced the expansion of the Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Swadhar Yojana. What does this mean? Well, it means that students from Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist communities can now access food, accommodation, and other educational facilities to support their higher education endeavors.

This awesome scheme provides financial assistance directly into students’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts and is now being implemented at the taluka level. This move aims to help more students in classes 11 and 12, as well as those enrolled in vocational or non-vocational courses who are unable to secure admission to government hostels for backward classes.

With 443 government hostels already in operation across the state, accommodating over 43,000 students, it’s clear that there is a need for more support. As the number of colleges and students continues to rise, the demand for hostel space has exceeded availability, leaving many students without access to government hostels.

But fear not, the Swadhar Yojana is here to save the day! By extending the scheme to taluka levels, the government hopes to reach more students and ensure they have the necessary support to continue their educational journey without any disruptions. So, here’s to breaking down barriers and empowering underprivileged students to pursue their dreams!
