Hey there, folks! It seems like the political drama in Maharashtra is heating up as Republican Party of India (RPI) President and Union Minister of State Ramdas Athawale is making some bold demands. In a recent press conference in Pune, Athawale reiterated his call for a cabinet berth in the Maharashtra government, claiming that the RPI’s contributions to the Mahayuti alliance have been overlooked.
According to Athawale, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had promised RPI a spot in the cabinet before the elections, but that promise has yet to be fulfilled. Despite RPI’s support for the Mahayuti alliance in both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the party has not been given the recognition it believes it deserves.
Athawale emphasized the significant role RPI played in securing the Mahayuti alliance’s success and stated that it’s high time for the party to have representation in the state government. He also called for a larger share of seats for RPI in upcoming elections at various levels, including gram panchayats, municipalities, and municipal corporations.
Furthermore, Athawale expressed disappointment with the way RPI was sidelined during the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, noting that candidates contested on the symbols of BJP and Shiv Sena instead of as true RPI candidates. He stressed the importance of acknowledging RPI’s efforts and ensuring the party’s rightful place in the alliance.
While RPI plans to continue its alliance with the Mahayuti in local elections, Athawale made it clear that the party expects greater respect and recognition moving forward. Looks like things are getting interesting in the world of Maharashtra politics! Stay tuned for more updates.
