Hey there, folks! Today we’ve got some good news for residents in the southern part of Pune District, Satara District, and Solapur District. The Nira River Sub-Basin, home to dams like Nira Devghar, Bhatghar, Gunjawani, and Veer, is currently sitting pretty with a water storage of 40.16 TMC. That’s a significant increase from last year’s storage of 33.33 TMC during the same period, showing a rise of 7 TMC.

If you remember, last year there were concerns about water supply in these areas during the May-June period. But with the Nira Sub-Basin fuller this year, residents can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that drinking water shortages are not on the horizon.

Let’s break down the current water storage in the Nira River Sub-Basin:

– Nira Devghar Dam: 10.36 TMC (88.40% of capacity)
– Bhatghar Dam: 21.10 TMC (89.78% of capacity)
– Veer Dam: 5.41 TMC (57.56% of capacity)
– Gunjawani Dam: 3.28 TMC (88.90% of capacity)

The Nira River Sub-Basin plays a crucial role in supplying water to multiple regions across Pune, Satara, and Solapur Districts. Talukas like Purandar, Baramati, Indapur, Khandala, Phaltan, Malshiras, and Sangola all rely on this water system.

The reason behind the good water storage? Well, it’s all thanks to ample rainfall in the catchment area of the Nira River Sub-Basin during the previous season. The Maharashtra State Government’s Irrigation Department is currently releasing water at a rate of 1,400 cusecs from the right canal and 400 cusecs from the left canal.

So, cheers to Mother Nature for keeping the water flowing in the Nira River Sub-Basin! Residents can rest easy knowing that their water supply is looking good for now. Stay hydrated, folks!
