Three bidders have successfully qualified for the civil construction of four elevated stations as part of Pune Metro Purple Line’s extension from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi’s Bhakti Shakti in December 2024. This marks a significant milestone in the expansion of Pune Metro Phase 1A.

The Package P1A-C-02 involves the construction of elevated stations at Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi, and Bhakti Shakti along the eastern service road of Old Mumbai Road. This is the second major construction package under Pune Metro Phase 1A, following the viaduct work of Package C-01.

Key Timeline Highlights:
– March 2024: RVNL awarded the contract for Package C-01 (viaduct construction).
– June 2024: Construction on the viaduct commenced.
– August 2024: MMRCL invited bids for station construction.
– November 7, 2024: Technical bids were opened.
– December 30, 2024: Evaluation of bids completed; three bidders qualified.

The three qualified bidders for the contract are Godrej and Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd., RVNL, and YFC – BBG JV. Vikram Infratech Developers Pvt. Ltd. was disqualified for failing to meet the tender conditions.

The scope of the project includes the construction of four elevated stations and excludes viaduct, pier arms, girder erection, deck slab at concourse and platform levels, and E&M works. The station designs were prepared by LKT Engineering, the Detailed Design Consultant, under a contract awarded in December 2023.

Financial bids of the qualified bidders were opened on December 30, 2024, with no announcement made regarding the lowest bidder. The project has a construction deadline of 90 weeks, approximately 1.7 years.

The PCMC-Nigdi extension under Pune Metro Phase 1A is progressing steadily, with contractors and consultants nearly finalized. The successful bidder for Package P1A-C-02 will play a crucial role in delivering the four stations essential for the line’s connectivity, highlighting Pune Metro’s commitment to enhancing urban transit infrastructure.
