The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has recently issued a notice to the executive engineer of Ranjangaon MIDC after complaints from local residents regarding the dumping and burning of hazardous waste on a company’s premises. During an inspection, the MPCB found unauthorised waste disposal, non-functional wastewater treatment systems, air pollution, and risk of stream contamination in the area.
The notice includes directives to remove stagnant water, upgrade systems, and operate the effluent treatment plant continuously. Failure to comply could result in legal action under pollution control laws.
This incident underscores the importance of effective waste management and stricter monitoring in industrial areas to protect the environment and public health. It is crucial for companies to adhere to regulations and address violations promptly to prevent further harm to the ecosystem.
