Hey Pune peeps, get ready for some warmer weather ahead! The IMD has predicted a rise in minimum temperatures across Pune and western Maharashtra just in time for the Makar Sankranti festivities. So say goodbye to those chilly mornings and hello to some slightly warmer days.
On Thursday, the temperature in Shivajinagar dropped to 10.9°C, giving us a taste of what’s to come. Lohgaon recorded a minimum of 13.6°C, while Kolhapur and Mahabaleshwar saw temperatures of 16.2°C and 11.8°C respectively.
According to the IMD, Pune can expect temperatures to gradually increase starting from January 12. By January 14-15, we could be looking at temperatures around 16°C, which is above normal for this time of year.
Coastal areas like Mumbai are already feeling the warmth, with minimum temperatures hovering around 21.8°C. Meanwhile, Vidarbha is still experiencing cooler temperatures, with Nagpur hitting a low of 8.2°C.
The IMD also mentioned a slight increase in temperatures across Maharashtra over the next few days, while neighbouring Gujarat may see a temporary rise followed by a fall in temperatures.
As for precipitation, south peninsular India may see some light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, but Maharashtra is expected to stay mostly dry with just a bit of haze in the morning.
So get ready to ditch those heavy jackets and enjoy the milder weather as we gear up for the Makar Sankranti celebrations!
