Hey there, folks! Here’s some fresh news from Pune for you. The Indian Railways in Pune Division recently hosted a cool training program on January 14, 2025. The goal? To help their frontline staff better assist passengers with disabilities. Yep, you heard that right. The program was all about raising awareness on disability-related issues and making sure everyone, including those with disabilities (aka Divyangjan), gets top-notch service.
The whole shebang was led by Dr. Milind Hirwe, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, and his trusty sidekick, Hemant Kumar Behera, the Divisional Commercial Manager. They kicked things off with a warm welcome from Kapil Sharma, the Assistant Commercial Manager, and a round of applause for the guests led by Shantanu Atre, another Assistant Commercial Manager.
The star of the show was Dr. Mahendra Pandit, an orthopaedic specialist from Divyang Kalyankari Sanstha and Sanshodhan Kendra, Pune. He covered all the important stuff – like disability-related lingo, how to treat Divyangjan with respect, and the awesome services Indian Railways offers to make their travel easier. There was even a Q&A session to help the staff really get a grip on the challenges faced by passengers with disabilities.
One of the big shots behind the scenes said, “This program is all about making sure our frontline staff, from ticket checkers to reservation clerks, are ready to handle the unique needs of differently-abled passengers.” Nice one, right?
And hey, the fun doesn’t stop there. Similar training programs are popping up at key stations in the Pune Division, like Khadki, Miraj, and Daund. So, if you’re rolling through Pune anytime soon, you can bet the railway staff will be all set to give you a hand. Cool, huh?
