Hey Pune peeps! Today, the Chairman and Managing Director of MSEDCL, Lokesh Chandra, was in town to check out what’s happening with the electricity distribution in our city. He made sure that new electricity connections are given to people on time and stressed the importance of replacing faulty meters ASAP to avoid any financial losses.
The meeting took place at Prakash Bhavan and was attended by some important folks from MSEDCL. Lokesh Chandra mentioned that it’s crucial to bill every unit of electricity used by consumers but faulty meters are causing problems. He urged for a quick replacement of these defective meters.
Chandra also talked about bill collection, noting that most people pay their bills on time but there are still some who are lagging behind. He emphasized the need to focus on collecting overdue bills to prevent arrears from piling up, especially in the high-voltage category. If arrears equal the deposit amount held by MSEDCL, he mentioned that action will be taken to cut off the electricity supply.
On a positive note, he mentioned that MSEDCL met a record demand for electricity recently without needing to buy more power. They have also been leading in providing solar agricultural pumps to farmers. The Chief Minister Solar Agriculture Vehicle Scheme 2.0 will help farmers get electricity during the day and reduce rates for industries and businesses. Chandra directed everyone to work quickly to implement this scheme and coordinate with the Revenue Department.
Looks like MSEDCL is on track to make some big changes in the power sector in Maharashtra!
