Pune, 14th January 2025: A shocking incident has rocked the city of Pune as a woman employed at WNS in Viman Nagar was brutally murdered in the company’s parking lot. The perpetrator, a colleague of the victim, allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon over a monetary dispute. What’s even more disturbing is that despite the presence of several onlookers, no one stepped in to help, highlighting the bystander effect that plagues our society.
In response to this heinous crime, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has dispatched a Fact-Finding Team to Pune to investigate the matter. Led by Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, the team includes members such as Meenakshi Negi, Dr. B.K. Sinha, and R. Sreelekha, all of whom bring valuable expertise to the table.
The committee has wasted no time in getting to work, with a comprehensive inquiry already underway. They plan to meet with local authorities, examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, speak to the victim’s acquaintances, visit the crime scene, and engage with IT/BPO associations to address concerns about workplace safety.
The NCW Fact-Finding Committee aims to submit its findings and recommendations within the next 10 working days, shedding light on this tragic event and hopefully bringing justice to the victim and her family. Stay tuned for updates as the investigation unfolds.
