Hey Pune peeps, here’s some good news for the traders and vendors of Mahatma Phule Mandai area! Maha Metro has decided to resettle them to their original location after being displaced during the construction of the Mahatma Phule Mandai station.

The work on the pedestrian underpass from Mandai Metro station to Kaka Halwai is almost done, and soon the traders will be back in their old stomping grounds. The area has five stations on the underpass metro route between Shivajinagar and Swargate, with Kasba Peth and Mahatma Phule Mandai stations being the trickiest to work on due to their central location and dense market areas.

During the construction, 152 small traders were temporarily resettled, including grocery, cutlery, and paan shops. But fear not, they will soon be back in business as the underpass work nears completion in the next eight to nine months. Hemant Sonawane, Director and Public Relations Officer of Maha Metro, assured that the vendors will be shifted back to their original location as soon as the underpasses are ready.

Sunil Ballal, Deputy Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation, Mandai Division, also confirmed that the traders will be permanently resettled at their previous location with new shops being constructed for them. The Municipal Corporation is working closely with Maha Metro to make this happen quickly.

So, hang in there traders, your old spot at Mahatma Phule Mandai is waiting for you! Stay tuned for more updates on this heartwarming development.
