Pune, 17th January 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is gearing up to tackle the mental health challenges faced by its employees with a new digital solution. With workloads on the rise and manpower diminishing, the PMC has decided to invest in 2,000 subscriptions to a mental health app, costing ₹1.25 crore. This move is being funded through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

In recent years, the daily workload for PMC officers and staff has been steadily increasing, leading to a spike in stress levels and related health issues. The administration is hoping that this new app will help boost employee morale and ensure their overall well-being. The proposal for the app purchase was presented to the standing committee by the municipal administration, and the Health Department will be overseeing the procurement process.

With approximately 17,000-18,000 employees spread across various PMC departments, many are struggling with both mental and physical stress due to the demanding nature of their roles. To address these concerns, the PMC has already implemented various health-focused measures such as regular health check-ups, wellness guidance, and yoga sessions. The introduction of the mental health app is seen as the next step in supporting employee health and resilience.

The app is expected to offer a variety of tools and resources to help employees better manage stress, enhance their mental health, and ultimately maintain their productivity levels. This move by the PMC highlights the growing recognition of the importance of mental health in the workplace and the commitment to supporting employees in maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
