If you’re planning a trip to Sinhagad fort in Maharashtra, you might want to take note of the recent changes being implemented by the Forest Department to manage the increasing number of tourists. Last weekend, a traffic nightmare occurred on the fort’s ghat section, leading to a four-hour closure starting at 4:00 PM. The situation worsened on Monday, causing massive traffic jams and frustration among visitors.

The Ghera Sinhagad Forest Protection Committee, responsible for managing traffic flow in the area, faced criticism for the delayed decisions that exacerbated the congestion. In response, the Forest Department has directed the committee to revise its traffic management strategies to ensure smoother operations in the future.

To address the issue, plans are underway to establish a timetable for vehicles traveling to and from the fort. Vehicles ascending will stop at Kondhanpur Naka, while those descending will start from the fort’s vehicle base. These changes will be enforced by the Forest Committee in coordination with the Forest Department.

Additional measures include providing uniforms and raincoats to security guards, marking parking lots with white stripes, repairing damaged areas, and training in forest and traffic management. The committee will also work closely with the Pune Police Traffic Branch to regulate passenger vehicles and ensure safety on the roads.

Range Forest Officer Pradeep Sankpal emphasized the importance of aligning the schedule with tourist numbers and vehicle traffic, with enforcement beginning this Saturday. Drivers who exhibit reckless behavior will face strict consequences to maintain order and safety in the area.

So, if you’re planning a visit to Sinhagad fort, make sure to follow the new guidelines and cooperate with authorities to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
