Hey Pune peeps, looks like the City Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar, is on a mission to crack down on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in our city. The police have started a search operation targeting unauthorized foreign nationals all over Pune.
Kumar has instructed all police station heads to gather info on migrant workers in their areas and take immediate action if any Bangladeshi infiltrators are found. Recent arrests of illegal Bangladeshi nationals in Pune have prompted this move.
In one instance, Bund Garden police nabbed a Bangladeshi woman near Pune railway station. And not too long after, Swargate police caught a Bangladeshi man who had been living illegally in Maharshi Nagar for a decade. Fake Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and foreign currency were seized from the man.
The police commissioner isn’t stopping there – he’s also ordered a search for agents providing fake documents to Bangladeshi infiltrators. They’re also keeping an eye on foreign students and tourists in Pune.
Kumar made it clear that illegal residents will be sent back to their home countries. The operation involves Local Police Stations, the Special Branch, and the Crime Branch.
This crackdown is part of a bigger effort to deal with illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Pune. Over the last five years, 66 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested for living illegally here, but only 8 have been deported so far.
The police are digging into how these immigrants enter India and get fake Indian identity documents. The recent arrests have sparked concerns about the network aiding illegal immigration and the demand for cheap labor fueling this problem.
