- Brijesh Dixit Pushes for Financial Support for Highway Project
Brijesh Dixit, the man behind the ambitious highway project connecting NH-48 to NH-753, has stressed the importance of GST, stamp duty, and other usage exemptions to make the project financially viable. A draft seeking these approvals has been submitted to the Cabinet on January 1, with hopes for a speedy approval that will facilitate rapid land acquisition and tendering.
- The Vision for the 53-km Highway
The proposed 53-km highway will serve as a crucial link between the Mumbai-Pune Highway and the Pune-Sambhajinagar Highway, aiming to alleviate the traffic congestion in the Pune area. The plan includes the upgrade of the existing two-lane road to a four-lane elevated highway, complete with strategically located flyovers. The project is estimated to cost ₹6,499.22 crore and will be financed through toll securitization or loans, with MSIDC spearheading the execution.
- Political Support and Community Concerns
Local MLA Shelke has pledged to advocate for the project with Deputy CM Ajit Pawar to expedite the approval process within the cabinet. On the other hand, MLA Kale has raised concerns about immediate traffic solutions, to which Dixit has clarified that the project falls under the jurisdiction of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and relief measures will be implemented post-approval.
- Praise for MSIDC’s Efforts
The Highway Action Committee, led by Nitin Gade, has commended MSIDC for their dedication to the project’s success, recognizing the potential benefits it will bring to Pune commuters in terms of enhanced travel and connectivity.
Overall, the proposed highway project holds significant promise for the region, with hopes for a smoother and more efficient transportation network in the near future.
