Hey Punekars, we’ve got some interesting news for you regarding illegal parking in the city! Pune Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar recently made an announcement that’s sure to make a lot of drivers happy.

So here’s the deal – if your vehicle is parked in a no-parking zone or is improperly parked, and you happen to be around when the police are taking action, you won’t have to pay any towing charges. That’s right, no extra fees for you if you’re there to see it all go down.

The decision comes after complaints were received about towing workers behaving badly towards drivers. To address the issue, CP Amitesh Kumar got the towing company reps and police officers together for a meeting.

Under the new guidelines, if you’re present when the police are dealing with your parking violation, you won’t have to cough up any towing charges, whether you’re familiar with the local parking rules or not. The police in the towing vans will also be announcing violations through loudspeakers to keep everyone informed.

And to make things even smoother, police personnel will now be equipped with e-challans and walkie-talkies for better communication. It’s all about making the process fair and transparent for everyone involved.

Oh, and if you do end up getting fined for a no-parking violation, here’s what you’ll be looking at: for two-wheelers, it’s Rs 785 (including GST and towing charge), and for four-wheelers, it’s Rs 1,071. So keep this in mind the next time you’re out and about in Pune!

Stay tuned for more updates on this and other news happening in our city. Until next time, drive safe and park smart, Punekars!
