Hey there, folks! It’s your friendly neighborhood journalist here to give you the scoop on what’s happening in Pune today. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is making waves with a protest against Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister, Chandrakant Patil, for not keeping his promise to waive full academic fees for female students from lower-income families.

Led by the one and only Sharad Pawar, the NCP activists, along with Pune City chief Prashant Jagtap, took to the streets at Balgandharva Chowk on Jangli Maharaj Road to demand Patil’s resignation. They were armed with catchy slogans like “triple government, fake government” and “False promises are thrown away, Maharashtra will teach Mahayuti a lesson.”

Jagtap didn’t hold back when speaking to the media, calling out Patil for making empty promises to win votes during the Lok Sabha elections. He pointed out how families are now struggling to send their daughters to college because of this broken promise, leaving them with no choice but to take out loans.

Patil had announced earlier this year that girls from families earning ₹8 lakh or less annually would have their full academic fees waived starting in the 2024-25 academic year. However, the implementation of this initiative has been delayed, much to the disappointment of many.

But fear not, dear readers! Patil has assured the public that the government will soon issue an order for free education for girls in the state. The delay was due to the Lok Sabha elections, but rest assured, it will be put into action soon.

So there you have it, folks! Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story. Until next time, this is your journalist signing off!
