- The theft took place on the metro route between Bhakti Shakti Bus Depot in Nigdi and Khandoba Mal Chowk in Akurdi between September 10, 2024, and January 25, 2025.
- Ravi Rediyar, the General Manager of ‘Anant Sky Infratech Agency,’ filed a complaint at Nigdi Police Station regarding the theft.
- Harishchandra Kumar, who was working as a supervisor for the agency, stole 40 tonnes of iron from the metro site during his tenure.
- The incident came to light during a Metro inspection, leading to the arrest of both the accused.
- Construction work on the metro line between Pimpri and Nigdi is ongoing in Pimpri-Chinchwad city, and strict measures are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
