Nigdi Police Arrest Metro Supervisor and Truck Driver for Stealing Rs 20 Lakh Worth of Iron from Maha Metro Site

1. Theft incidents are unfortunately common in Pune, but the recent incident at Maha Metro has left everyone shocked.
2. The Metro supervisor, Harishchandra Sunil Kumar, along with truck driver Mohammad Anib Patel, were arrested for stealing Metro’s iron worth Rs 20 lakhs.
3. The theft took place on the metro route between Bhakti Shakti Bus Depot in Nigdi and Khandoba Mal Chowk in Akurdi between September 10, 2024, and January 25, 2025.
4. Ravi Rediyar, the General Manager of ‘Anant Sky Infratech Agency,’ filed a complaint at Nigdi Police Station regarding the theft.
5. Harishchandra Kumar, who was working as a supervisor for the agency, stole 40 tonnes of iron from the metro site during his tenure.
6. The incident came to light during a Metro inspection, leading to the arrest of both the accused.
7. Construction work on the metro line between Pimpri and Nigdi is ongoing in Pimpri-Chinchwad city, and strict measures are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
