Get ready to lace up your running shoes because the Pune City Marathon is back and bigger than ever! With 15,000 runners expected to participate on February 2, 2025, this event promises to be a day filled with excitement and positive impact.
Organized by The Poona Club Ltd and executed by Dorabjee Charitable Trust in collaboration with HQ Southern Command, this marathon is all set to bring the community together for a good cause. Gaurav Gadhoke, president of The Poona Club, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating that it will only continue to improve year after year.
Jehangir Dorabjee from Dorabjee Charitable Trust echoed this sentiment, noting the overwhelming support received from various government departments and the community. Indraneel Mujgule, vice president of The Poona Club, emphasized the importance of the marathon in promoting social welfare and unity.
Race Director Shailesh Ranka highlighted the focus on creating a greener and more inclusive Pune through initiatives such as tree plantation, supporting education and welfare for children, empowering the visually and hearing impaired, and aiding old age homes.
Supported by various organizations including Income Tax Sports & Recreation Club Pune, Pune Police Maharashtra, Bank of Maharashtra, Indian Air Force, and Department of Goods and Services Tax Government of Maharashtra, the marathon will feature races in 3km, 5km, 10km, and 21km categories.
The Half Marathon 21KM will be run in one loop, starting and finishing at The Poona Club Ltd Cricket Ground. Participants can look forward to receiving a Dry Fit T-shirt, Finisher medal, Sling bag with exciting goodies, timing chip for 10km and 21km, breakfast, hydration and route support, and E-certificates.
