Hey Pune peeps, heads up for this weekend! With Shri Ganesh Jayanti around the corner, the Pune Traffic Police are making some temporary changes to keep things flowing smoothly in the city center.
Starting bright and early at 7 am on Saturday, February 1, Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Road will be off-limits to cars. And if the crowds get too crazy, traffic on Laxmi Road might get rerouted to avoid a major jam.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende has some tips for commuters. If you’re on a PMPML bus or driving from Shivajinagar to Swargate, take a detour through S. G. Barve Chowk (Modern Cafe Chowk), Jhansi Rani Chowk, JM Road, Khandobijababa Chowk, and Tilak Chowk.
And if you’re cruising from S. G. Barve Chowk to Mahapalika (PMC) Bhavan, swing by Jhansi Chi Rani Chowk instead. Oh, and if you usually go from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk (Hutatma Chowk), find another way through Appa Balwant Chowk.
If things get really hectic, you might have to dodge around Belbag Chowk on Laxmi Road, too. The traffic police are asking everyone to plan ahead and be chill about the changes so we can all enjoy the celebrations without any road rage.
