Hey there, Pune peeps! Big news coming your way – a whopping ₹1.26 lakh crore transport plan has been unveiled for Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the PMRDA. This plan is set to revolutionize the way we get around the city over the next 30 years.

So, what’s in store? Well, the focus is on expanding the metro, beefing up the PMPML bus service, and introducing new Bus Rapid Transit routes. The plan covers a massive 2,550 square kilometers and includes the development of 276 kilometers of metro lines and six new BRT routes.

PMPML, which currently serves only 10% of commuters, is set for a major overhaul. The plan calls for a significant expansion of the bus fleet, with a projected increase to a whopping 11,564 buses by 2054. That’s a whole lot of buses hitting the streets!

And speaking of hitting the streets, get ready for some serious metro line construction. A total of 246 kilometers of metro lines are on the cards, with extensions and new corridors planned all over the city. From District Court to Alandi to Kharadi to Khadakwasla, the metro is set to connect key areas like never before.

But that’s not all – the plan also includes 18 new PMPML routes covering 641 kilometers and the construction of 10 new bus terminals. And let’s not forget about the six new BRT corridors, including routes like Ravet to Rajgurunagar and Chandni Chowk to Hinjawadi. Say goodbye to traffic woes!

Speaking of traffic, the Pune Traffic Police raised concerns about congestion due to poorly maintained roads. With the city’s average traffic speed at a measly 18 km/h, something had to be done. And this comprehensive transport plan aims to do just that – transforming Pune’s public transport scene and tackling congestion head-on.

So buckle up, Puneites, because the future of transport in our city is looking bright!
