Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has recently announced a ambitious plan to tackle the traffic issues in the city. The plan includes fixing missing road links and clearing bottlenecks within 100 days, at an estimated cost of ₹500 crore.
The focus areas of the plan include addressing 14 crucial missing road links, clearing eight major bottlenecks at 47 locations, widening and asphalting 17 roads, and clearing 15 ideal roads of encroachments.
To expedite the process, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed PMC, Pune Police, and PMRDA to collaborate on quick and cost-effective solutions. The plan aims to address immediate traffic concerns while long-term solutions are being worked on.
Funding for the project is still pending approval from the state government, but Pawar has assured that funds will be allocated on a priority basis. The goal is to complete the necessary roadworks within the 100-day timeline set by the PMC.
With these measures in place, PMC hopes to alleviate traffic congestion in Pune and improve road infrastructure for the benefit of the city’s residents.
