Hey Pune, here’s the latest update on the Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) situation in our city. The number of patients being treated for GBS has gone up to 158, with nine new cases reported just yesterday. But the good news is that no additional deaths have been reported, keeping the total at five.
In a more positive note, the number of patients needing ventilator support has actually gone down from 28 to 21. ICU admissions have also decreased from 83 to 48. Doctors are optimistic about the recovery of patients, with 38 individuals already discharged.
Health officials are working hard to investigate the rise in GBS cases, with support from the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO teams have been on the ground, visiting affected areas and helping to analyze data to understand how the disease is spreading.
A WHO official mentioned that they are working closely with local authorities to train healthcare workers in identifying cases early. The goal is to make sure every suspected case is diagnosed and treated promptly.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation in Pune. Let’s all work together to stay informed and keep each other safe.
