Big news coming out of Pune today as the Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced a whopping budget allocation of Rs. 23,778 crores for Maharashtra in the upcoming fiscal year. That’s a record-breaking amount, nearly 20 times more than what the state has received on average in the past.

During the virtual press conference, Vaishnaw highlighted the partnership between the Railways, State Government, and Reserve Bank of India, which will help expedite project execution in the state. This collaborative effort will ensure that funds are readily available for joint projects, leading to faster development.

The redevelopment of 132 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is already underway in Maharashtra, with projects worth a total of Rs. 1,70,000 crores in progress across the state. In Mumbai alone, projects worth Rs. 17,107 crores covering 301 kilometers are currently being implemented.

To further enhance capacity and efficiency, plans are in place to upgrade key terminals such as CSMT, Parel, LTT, Kalyan, and Panvel. Additionally, a new Super App integrating various railway apps is set to launch on Google Playstore, simplifying the travel experience for passengers.

Exciting developments are also in store for rail travel, with the production of 50 Namo Bharat trains, 100 Amrit Bharat Trains, and 200 Vande Bharat Trains slated for this year. Safety remains a top priority, with a significant allocation of Rs. 1,16,000 crores dedicated to enhancing security measures.

On the high-speed rail front, progress continues with 340 kilometers of track already completed and work on stations and an undersea tunnel moving forward swiftly. Additionally, the implementation of Kavach 4.0, a cutting-edge safety system, is well underway across the Indian Railways network.

It’s worth noting that all broad gauge tracks of Central Railway will be equipped with Kavach, ensuring the safety of passengers and staff alike.
