Pune residents can now breathe a sigh of relief as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has finally taken a step in the right direction by releasing three new helpline numbers for citizens in need of emergency assistance. After facing backlash for their previous helpline number being switched off after 11 p.m., the PMC has now made sure that help is just a phone call away at any time of the day.

The newly released helpline numbers, 020-24401269, 020-67801500, and 020-25506800, will be available round the clock to report any emergencies. This move comes after heavy rainfall caused flooding in various areas of the city, leaving residents stranded and helpless with no response from the PMC’s disaster management department.

Residents had expressed their frustration with the previous helpline number’s unavailability during crucial times when their homes were being flooded. The PMC’s decision to make these new helpline numbers operational 24×7 is a welcome change that will hopefully restore faith in the city’s disaster management system.

Ganesh Sonune, head of PMC’s disaster management cell, acknowledged the criticism faced by the department and assured residents that every complaint raised through the new helpline numbers will be resolved promptly. This proactive approach by the PMC is a positive step towards improving disaster management response and providing timely assistance to residents during emergencies.

With these new helpline numbers in place, Pune residents can now feel more secure knowing that help is just a phone call away, no matter the time of day. This move by the PMC aims to address the shortcomings highlighted during the recent floods and rebuild trust with the community.
