The quiet neighborhood of Upper Indiranagar in Bibwewadi was rocked by a shocking incident of vandalism in the early hours of Wednesday morning. A gang of three individuals, identified as Andi alias Niranjan Devkar, Abhishek Pandhare, and Ganraj Sunil Thakar, went on a rampage, smashing the windows of 70 vehicles parked near the Durga Mata Temple.
The incident, which occurred following a previous altercation between the trio and a local resident, left the neighborhood residents in a state of panic. The gang, armed with sticks and weapons, arrived at the scene around midnight and proceeded to vandalize cars, tempos, rickshaws, and two-wheelers.
The loud noise of breaking glass alerted the residents, who quickly called for help. The police were swift to respond, with a team led by Police Inspector Vijay Kumbhar and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Nikhil Pingle taking charge of the situation. Devkar, who had initially fled the scene, was tracked down and arrested in Velhe, while Pandhare and Thakar were apprehended by the Bibwewadi police.
The motive behind the vandalism was believed to be revenge for the earlier altercation, which had left the trio feeling humiliated. The incident has left the neighborhood in fear and shock, with residents expressing their concerns over the safety of their vehicles and property.
The police have assured the residents that the situation is under control and that they are taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of the neighborhood. The arrested individuals are now in police custody and will face appropriate legal action for their actions.
