Pune residents, beware! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a health advisory due to a rise in typhoid cases in the city. With the monsoon season in full swing, it’s important to take precautions to avoid waterborne diseases.

Here are some key points from the advisory:

1. Drink Safe Water: Stick to clean, potable water and avoid using water from unused wells for drinking.
2. Avoid Stale Food: Say no to stale and unhygienic stored food to steer clear of illnesses.
3. Report Symptoms: If you’re experiencing symptoms like nausea, cold, fever, or diarrhoea, head to the nearest government hospital for examination and treatment.

Dr. Suryakant Devkar, Assistant Health Officer of PMC, stressed the importance of seeking medical help immediately if you show any symptoms. “Citizens with symptoms like nausea, cold, fever, diarrhoea, etc., should report to the nearest government hospitals,” he advised.

To further prevent diseases during the monsoon, follow these additional measures:

1. Water Storage: Don’t store water for more than five days to prevent mosquito breeding. Make sure to empty containers used for drinking water once a week, wash them thoroughly, wipe them dry, and keep them dry.
2. Mosquito Control: Keep mosquitoes at bay by eliminating stagnant water where they can breed in and around your home.

Stay safe, Pune! Take these precautions seriously to protect yourself and your loved ones.
