Maharaj had been facing financial challenges for a while. The COVID-19 pandemic dealt a blow to his paper bag manufacturing business, leading to losses. He then ventured into the hotel industry with a restaurant franchise, which added to his financial woes. Additionally, building a house and purchasing a car further increased his debt burden.
The Warkari community is deeply saddened by Maharaj’s untimely death. They believe that had he reached out for help, the entire state of Maharashtra would have supported him. The community is also calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to his suicide.
