Chikhali, a bustling area in Pimpri Chinchwad, is currently buzzing with activity as the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) cracks down on illegal encroachments. Approximately 5,000 establishments have been targeted in the Chikhali Kudalwadi area, with demolition notices served to the owners.

But amidst the chaos, a heartwarming story has emerged involving the PCMC’s Fire Brigade. These brave firefighters have not only been ensuring safety during the demolition process but have also been rescuing pets left behind by their owners.

Fire Officer Gautam Ingawale shared with Punekar News that the Fire Brigade plays a crucial role in preventing disasters during the demolition. They take several precautions, such as securing flammable materials, cutting off electricity, and ensuring the safety of both humans and animals in the vicinity.

In a touching incident, the Fire Brigade team led by Ingawale and Pundalik Bhutapalle discovered around 50 cats trapped in cages inside a building set for demolition. The owners, who were dealing with medical issues, were not present at the time. The firefighters sprang into action, rescuing the felines and handing them over to the PCMC’s Veterinary Department.

Ingawale stressed the importance of checking for pets before demolition, as handling them during the process can be tricky. This proactive approach has undoubtedly saved many animal lives during this anti-encroachment operation.

The drive in Chikhali Kudalwadi has been ongoing for days, with tons of encroachments being removed by the PCMC. The corporation is determined to extend this initiative city-wide, showing a strong commitment to tackling illegal structures and encroachments head-on. Keep an eye out for more updates on this developing story.
