Hey Pune peeps, looks like the PMC is on a roll with their road repair initiatives! After successfully completing ‘Mission 15’, they’re gearing up for ‘Mission 17’ to upgrade key roads across the city. The project will focus on fixing damaged roads, footpaths, street furniture, and encroachments to make commuting smoother for everyone.
Over the past two months, the PMC has already spent a whopping ₹2 crore on the first phase of ‘Mission 15’, covering 95 km of road repairs. Some of the locations that got a facelift include Nagar Road, Solapur Road, Magarpatta Road, Pashan Road, and more.
Now, with ‘Mission 15’ in the bag, the PMC is all set to survey 17 major roads to assess their condition and plan repairs for ‘Mission 17’. Get ready to see improvements on roads like Saswad Road, Fergusson College Road, Jangli Maharaj Road, and more.
But hold up, not everyone is cheering for the PMC. Citizen activists are raising concerns about the effectiveness of the road repair work, citing issues like poor planning and lack of adherence to national road safety standards. Vivek Velankar from Sajag Nagrik Manch is one of the voices speaking out against the PMC’s approach, stressing the importance of following Indian Road Congress guidelines for better results.
Stay tuned for more updates on how ‘Mission 17’ unfolds and whether the PMC can address the concerns raised by citizen activists. Let’s hope for smoother roads and safer commutes in Pune!
