As the monsoon season ramps up in Pune, the city is facing a spike in dengue fever cases, with Sadaanand Nagar, Mangalwar Peth at the forefront. Reports have confirmed 20 suspected cases in this area, prompting rapid response from the Municipal Health Department to curb further transmission.

The emergence of Dengue cases in Sadaanand Nagar has been alarming, with nine out of the 20 suspected cases testing positive since June 21st. The Municipal Health Department, led by Dr. Suryakant Deokar, has wasted no time in implementing preventive measures to tackle the growing threat.

Immediate actions have been taken to admit patients showing dengue symptoms to Kamala Nehru Hospital for urgent medical care. Furthermore, health officials are conducting a thorough survey in the affected locality to evaluate the health status of residents and offer necessary medical assistance.

Pune has witnessed a rise in suspected dengue cases this month, totaling 63 cases, with 21 cases reported just last week alone. Throughout the year, the city has dealt with 393 suspected dengue cases and nine cases of chikungunya. To address the escalating health crisis, the Municipal Corporation has issued notices to over 560 properties for mosquito breeding, resulting in fines exceeding Rs 1 lakh.

Inspections in Sadaanand Nagar have revealed that tap water remains uncontaminated, but contaminated water tanks in buildings pose a risk for mosquito breeding. Immediate rectification measures have been mandated, with a focus on promoting safe water storage practices.

The Municipal Health Department is emphasizing the importance of community involvement in eradicating mosquito breeding grounds, particularly stagnant water sources. Public awareness drives and community engagement programs are being intensified to educate residents on maintaining cleanliness and using protective measures against mosquito bites.

Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation in Sadaanand Nagar and other affected areas, with a commitment to controlling the outbreak through vigilant surveillance, proactive interventions, and collaboration with local communities.
