Hey there, Pune peeps! Big news coming your way – the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) just gave the green light to a whopping budget of ₹4,503 crore for the upcoming financial year. And guess what? They’re putting a major focus on infrastructure development. That’s right, folks, get ready for some serious upgrades in road networks, industrial connectivity, and public transport in our beloved city.
During a recent meeting in Mumbai, chaired by none other than Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the budget was approved with some key allocations that are bound to make a difference in our daily lives. Think ₹636 crore for developing a road network around the proposed Purandar International Airport area, ₹203 crore for cement roads in industrial zones between Ranjangaon and Hinjewadi, and a whopping ₹1,526 crore for a road network supporting the ‘Urban Growth Center’ proposed in PMRDA’s draft Development Plan. And that’s not all – there’s also ₹250 crore set aside for purchasing 500 new buses for Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML).
But wait, there’s more! Chief Minister Fadnavis stressed the importance of improving connectivity between Pune’s urban and rural areas. And to make it happen, the planned Ring Road, Pune-Satara, and Pune-Nagar road networks are going to play a crucial role in linking the upcoming Purandar airport.
Oh, and here’s a cool idea – Fadnavis suggested implementing PMRDA’s Development Plan in two phases. The first phase will focus on roads, sewage systems, water and electricity supply, as well as public amenities like crematoriums and burial grounds. The second phase will bring in additional infrastructure to keep things running smoothly.
And let’s not forget about the traffic situation, especially on Nagar Road. The CM proposed a Yerawada-Katraj twin tunnel subway to ease congestion and provide a quicker commute. How awesome is that?
So, Puneites, get ready for some exciting changes on the horizon. With this ambitious budget, PMRDA is all set to accelerate infrastructural growth, ensuring better connectivity, sustainable development, and improved public transport facilities for our ever-expanding metropolitan region. Exciting times ahead, don’t you think?
