If you’re tired of sitting in traffic jams between Mumbai and Pune, here’s some good news for you – a new elevated corridor is in the works! The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced plans for a Rs.1,100-crore project that will link the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) with the Mumbai-Pune Expressway by 2027.

This ambitious project includes two major elevated sections – a 4,958-meter corridor linking Chirle to Gavan Phata and a 1,700-meter corridor connecting Palaspe Phata to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. With a six-lane expansion planned for NH-348 and NH-48, traffic congestion is expected to ease significantly.

Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA, is optimistic about the impact of this project on Maharashtra’s transport infrastructure. He believes that the corridor will not only reduce congestion but also boost economic growth by allowing professionals to commute easily between Mumbai and Pune.

The project has already begun excavation work and is expected to be completed by February 2027. With its potential to reshape regional transportation and support economic growth, this elevated corridor is definitely something to look forward to. Stay tuned for more updates on this game-changing development in Mumbai and Maharashtra!
