In a heartbreaking turn of events in Yerwada today, a father lost his life in a violent dispute over his son’s interfaith marriage. The incident occurred in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, with the victim identified as Katalu Kachru Lahade, a 60-year-old resident of the area.
Ismail Riaz Shaikh, a 25-year-old laborer from the same neighborhood, allegedly attacked Lahade with a sharp weapon, resulting in fatal injuries to his face and head. The root of the conflict was reported to be Shaikh’s sister eloping with Lahade’s son, sparking a deadly confrontation between the two families.
The Yerwada police have taken swift action, detaining Shaikh as the main suspect and holding Sanket Umesh Gupta, a 21-year-old resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, as an accomplice.
