Fake websites are on the rise, targeting unsuspecting citizens looking to get their High-Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) installed in Pune. The Deputy Regional Transport Officer, Swapnil Bhosale, has warned the public about the increase in payment fraud cases related to online HSRP registrations.

With 69 HSRP installation centres set up in Pune, the demand has led to the emergence of fraudulent websites tricking users into making payments. Prashant Mane, one of the victims, shared his story of being redirected to a fake website after submitting his details for registration. Instead of the expected ₹500 charge, he was charged ₹899 with no confirmation or email received.

To combat this issue, the cyber police have been notified, and citizens are advised to only use the official government website for HSRP registration. The Regional Transport Department has mandated that all vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, must have HSRPs installed by April 30, 2025, leading to a surge in online registrations.

Rosmerta Company has been appointed to oversee the registration and installation process in Pune and 12 other RTO jurisdictions. With over 2.5 million vehicles in Pune requiring HSRPs, authorities stress the importance of using official channels to avoid falling victim to fraudulent websites. Stay safe and vigilant when registering for your HSRP to prevent scams and payment fraud.
