According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil, the victim was waiting for a bus to Phaltan when the accused approached her, claiming that the bus did not stop at her platform. After engaging her in conversation, he directed her to a different bus where the crime took place. The victim bravely reported the incident to the authorities after initially continuing her journey.
CCTV footage was crucial in confirming the identity of the suspect, who already had a history of criminal activity.
