The city of Katraj was rocked by a disturbing incident on the night of 27th February 2025, near Bharati Vidyapeeth. A group of troublemakers targeted a hotel manager, Amit Khaire, in a violent attack that left residents shocked and concerned.
Reports suggest that a group of 15 to 20 youths got into a heated argument outside a hotel in the Bharati Vidyapeeth area. When Khaire tried to intervene and calm the situation down, things took a turn for the worse. The group turned on him, assaulting him and causing serious injuries.
As Khaire was en route to Sassoon Hospital for medical attention, the same group intercepted him and accused him of planning to report the incident to the police. In a horrifying turn of events, they poured petrol on him in an attempt to set him on fire. Fortunately, Khaire and a friend managed to escape, but the miscreants set his vehicle ablaze.
The incident has raised concerns about the escalating crime rate in Pune, with multiple groups trying to instill fear in different parts of the city. The Bharati Vidyapeeth police responded quickly to the scene, and a case has been registered against four to five individuals based on Khaire’s complaint.
Police Inspector Khillare of Bharati Vidyapeeth assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that the culprits will be apprehended soon. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the heinous attack.
