The recent Swargate bus rape case has sparked outrage across the state of Pune. The Opposition has condemned the State Government for the incident, but Minister of State Yogesh Kadam has given a clean chit to the police and instead blamed the private security agency for the security lapse.

During his visit to the Swargate bus stand, Minister Kadam inspected the premises and addressed the media, stating that there was no negligence on the part of the police. He mentioned that the police conducted patrols as per their plan, with CCTV footage showing their presence at the bus stand twice on the day of the incident.

Minister Kadam alleged that the private security agency appointed by the MSRTC failed in their duties, leading to the unfortunate incident. He emphasized that had the security guards been alert, the incident could have been prevented. He also criticized the depot manager for not ensuring that the security agency was performing its responsibilities properly.

Kadam urged citizens and the media to trust the police machinery, stating that they launched an investigation immediately after the incident. He emphasized that it is wrong to accuse the police of negligence, as their responsibility lies in different areas compared to the security of the bus stand, which is assigned to the private contractor.

While the opposition is likely to criticize the clean chit given to the police by the Home Department, Minister Kadam assured that the ongoing investigation is being closely monitored by the people of the state. It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold as more information comes to light.
