Hey Pune peeps, here’s the latest scoop on the burning garbage situation in our city! NGO Parisar has taken matters into their own hands and submitted a report to the PMC about the open burning of solid waste. And guess what? The PMC has formed a special squad to crack down on those who are guilty of this offense.
Now, if you spot someone burning garbage in your neighborhood, all you have to do is reach out to the PMC and they will send their squad to take care of business. This move comes in light of the increasing air pollution caused by burning waste, along with the rise in vehicle numbers and ongoing construction projects.
NGO Parisar is leading the charge in putting an end to these harmful practices, and the PMC is finally stepping up their game by appointing special squads in each ward to tackle the issue head-on. Kudos to the alert citizen who reported a burning leaf pile in Bhosale Nagar, prompting the squad to take action.
However, it seems like not all citizens are getting the same response. Some folks in Kondhwa had to reach out to their ward office directly after receiving no reply from the PMC. Parisar’s Sharmila Deo has highlighted the importance of citizens being proactive in reporting such incidents.
Pushkar Kulkarni from Pune Air Action Hub has also weighed in on the matter, pointing out that the NGT had instructed the PMC to keep track of complaints and resolutions related to garbage burning. But it seems like the PMC has dropped the ball on this one.
Let’s all do our part in keeping Pune clean and green by saying no to burning garbage and making sure to report any offenders. Together, we can make a difference!
