Hey there, Pune folks! Big news coming your way – the Pune City Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar, is not messing around when it comes to cracking down on habitual offenders in our city. This decision was made following a disturbing rape incident at the Swargate Bus Depot.
The suspect in question, Dattatraya Ramdas Gade, a 35-year-old resident of Gunat village in Shirur taluka, was swiftly nabbed from his hometown late at night. Commissioner Kumar wasted no time in briefing the press about the arrest, shedding light on Gade’s shady past.
Turns out, Gade is no stranger to the wrong side of the law. He was previously arrested in January 2024 for stealing mobile phones in the Swargate area and had faced robbery charges back in 2019 from both Pune Rural and Ahilyanagar Police. Yikes.
In light of this alarming incident, Commissioner Kumar has issued a stern directive to all police station heads in Pune. They are now required to keep a close eye on suspects with a history of crimes against women, summoning them for questioning as needed.
It’s safe to say that the city is on high alert, with stricter measures in place to tackle known offenders, especially those with a track record of targeting women. Stay safe out there, Pune!
